The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has lifted its electronics ban against Royal Jordanian (RJ, Amman Queen Alia) and Kuwait Airways (KU, Kuwait), effective July 9. The two national carriers made announcements on social media, however as at July 10 the webpage for the DHS has not yet been updated to exclude Amman Queen Alia from the ban.

In March 2017, the DHS banned flights originating from ten airports from allowing passengers to carry large electronic items (i.e. larger than a smartphone) on board. Those airports were: Amman Queen Alia, Cairo International, Istanbul Atatürk, Jeddah International, Riyadh, Kuwait, Casablanca Mohamed V, Doha Hamad International, Dubai International and Abu Dhabi International. Restrictions have been slowly relaxed over the past few weeks as US officials confirm security improvements at the affected airports.

According to ch-aviation schedule data, Royal Jordanian offers a 7x weekly service to Chicago O'Hare, 7x weekly service to New York JFK, and a 2x weekly service to Detroit Metropolitan. Kuwait Airways offers a 7x weekly service to New York JFK via Shannon.
