Air India (AI, Delhi International) has delayed delivery of its next A320neo aircraft owing to issues with its CFM International LEAP-1A26 powerplants, reports The Press Trust of India quoting unnamed sources. This is similar to a situation in January which saw the Indian carrier defer delivery of its maiden pair of A320neos by one month again over CFM engine issues.

Air India currently has eight A320neos in its fleet, three of which are dry-leased from Kuwaiti lessor ALAFCO. The ALAFCO aircraft are part of a longterm contract signed in March 2016 for the delivery of fourteen A320neo between January 2017 and March 2018.

Fellow Indian carriers IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International) and GoAir (Mumbai International) have also been facing problems with their A320neo fleet, although those are powered by Pratt & Whitney engines. Several of their aircraft have been grounded over the past few months as they await replacement PW1100G engines.

According to the ch-aviation fleets database, of the 130 A320neo aircraft currently active worldwide, 79 sport CFM engines and 51 have Pratt & Whitney engines.

CFM refused a ch-aviation request for comment.
