Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) has announced it has revised its A350-1000 order plans. According to Airbus's August order book numbers, Cathay Pacific's A350-1000 backlog totaled twenty-six machines.

In a Hong Kong stock exchange filing, the carrier noted that an existing order for six A350-1000s is to be converted into six A350-900s (to be delivered in 2019 and 2020) and the delivery of five A350-1000s is to be deferred from 2020 to 2021.

The conversion switch is expected to save Cathay Pacific approximately HKD2.241 billion Hong Kong Dollars (USD288 million).

Cathay Pacific currently operates eighteen A350-900s with plans to add a further four (exclusive of the aforementioned converted -1000s).

In the same disclosure, the firm also noted that it has now signed a purchase agreement with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for thirty-two A321neo, presumably those destined for its Cathay Dragon (Hong Kong International) unit.
