Afghanistan's National Procurement Authority (NPA) has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) to all eligible parties for the supply of two second-hand B737-500s. Once acquired, the Boeing (BOE, Washington National) jets will be placed with the national carrier, Ariana Afghan Airlines (FG, Kabul). Bids must be delivered to the NPA by November 1, 2017.

Earlier this year, Ariana personnel said the carrier would embark on a fleet renewal programme aimed at replacing its aging pair of A310-300s and three B737-400s. Among the types mentioned included B737NextGens, B767-200s, and ATR42s, all of which were to be procured by 2019.
