Hong Kong Airlines (HX, Hong Kong International) chief marketing officer George Liu has said that the HNA Group subsidiary is currently in negotiations with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) over a potential B787 order. Liu revealed the information to the South China Morning Post during a conference in Hong Kong last week.

While sister carrier Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou) already operates ten B787-8s and twelve B787-9s, Hong Kong Airlines' widebody fleet current consists exclusively of Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) aircraft including nine A330-200s, ten A330-300s and one A350-900.

Hong Kong Airlines currently serves Auckland International, Cairns and Vancouver International as its only long-haul destinations but plans to launch services to Los Angeles International on December 15, to Malé on January 16, and to San Francisco on March 25.
