Wollongong Airport is set to once more see scheduled passenger traffic following an announcement by JetGo Australia (Brisbane International) that it will begin flights to the town, located in Albion Park Rail, New South Wales, Australia, from October 30 onwards.

In a statement, JetGo said it would offer flights to each of Melbourne Essendon (4x weekly) and Brisbane International (daily) using E135 equipment.

QantasLink was the last commercial carrier to serve Wollongong with regular flights to Melbourne Tullamarine operating between June 2005 and July 2008. Qantas said at the time that rising fuel costs and “shifting” demands had forced its withdrawal from the market.
