LAM - Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (TM, Maputo) has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) for the recruitment of an advisory firm to assist in the majority state-owned carrier's restructuring.

“The consulting firm should be independent of LAM and any member of its management, directors and managers of the company, as well as institutions with interests in the company or other airlines with commercial activity in Mozambique,” it said.

According to the Lusa news agency, Mozambique's government is implementing the measure as part of the recommendations put forth by the Institute for the Management of State Holdings (IGEPE) following heavy losses and poor reliability at the airline.

The Mozambican Ministry of Transport threw open the country's domestic cabotage market to foreign participants given LAM's frequent AOG events and flight cancellations.
