Quest Aircraft (Sandpoint) has announced that its Japanese parent firm, Setouchi Holdings, has entered into a new joint venture agreement with the Maldives-based firm Island Aviation Services Ltd (IASL).

Under the terms of the agreement, the parties involved will establish a new seaplane operation, Sky Atoll Private Ltd, using an initial fleet of four Kodiak 100 amphibians.

Quest said in a statement the Kodiaks being delivered to Sky Atoll (Malé) will utilize Aerocet 6750 straight floats, which were certified for use on the aircraft earlier in 2017. No further details concerning Sky Atoll Private's launch were disclosed.

Owned by the Maldivian government, IASL already undertakes seaplane operations under the Maldivian (Q2, Malé) brand name. There, its fleet entails one DHC-6-200 and eight -300 amphibians used on short hops around the Maldivian archipelago.
