Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) has announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with four airlines overseen by US low-cost carrier investment specialists, Indigo Partners LLC.

In a statement, the European manufacturer said the order, once finalized, would total 430 additional A320neo Family aircraft to be allocated to each of Frontier Airlines (United States), JetSMART (Chile), Volaris (Mexico) and Wizz Air (Hungary).

According to Volaris, its tentative order extends to eighty (80) aircraft, including forty-six A320neos and thirty-four A321neo, to be delivered from 2022 to 2026. These aircraft are in addition to Volaris’ current fleet of seventy aircraft and the committed forty-one A320neo Family aircraft to be delivered between the remainder of 2017 through 2021.

According to Wizz Air, its tentative order extends to 146 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft entailing seventy-two A320neo and seventy-four A321neo. Deliveries will run from 2022 to 2026. It also has the right to substitute a number of the A320neo aircraft with the A321neo and vice versa, depending on its future requirements.

According to Frontier, its impending commitment entails 100 A320neo and thirty-four A321neo while JetSMART is in line to acquire fifty-six A320neo and fourteen A321neo.

"When added to existing Airbus A320 Family orders, the new agreement will make Indigo Partners one of the largest customers by order number in the world for the Airbus single-aisle aircraft family," Airbus said in a statement. "Airlines in the Indigo Partners family previously have placed orders for 427 A320 Family aircraft."
