Alitalia (AZA, Rome Fiumicino) has signed memorandums of understanding with Blue Panorama Airlines (Rome Fiumicino) and Windjet (Catania) to take over the two carriers. Blue Panorama mainly operates on leisure routes and has Blu Express (Rome Fiumicino) as a low-cost carrier division serving domestic markets and some limited international routes. Windjet is operating a fleet of A319-100s and A320-200s from bases in Catania, Palermo International and Rimini. It is unclear at this point how Alitalia plans to integrate the airlines as it already has its own low-cost carrier Air One (Rome Fiumicino) operating from Milan Malpensa, Pisa and Venice Marco Polo.
