The new General Director of Belavia (B2, Minsk National), Igor Nikolaevich Cherginets, has pledged to retire all of its remaining B737 Classics through the end of 2021.
In a press release announcing the stepping down of Anatoly Nikolaevich Gusarov and the appointment of Cherginets, the Belarus flag carrier underlined that its fleet renewal strategy would not change.
"We are planning to update the fleet with the aircraft of the latest generation Embraer E195-E2s, and at present, we are preparing to purchase the updated B737-8. By the end of the current year, we plan to terminate the operation of the B737 Classic. Undoubtedly, the modernisation of the fleet will contribute to the expansion of the route network, the opening of new destinations, and an increase in passenger traffic," Cherginets said.

Air Peace (P4, Lagos) took delivery of its first of 13 firm-ordered E195-E2s, although it has yet to ferry the aircraft back to Nigeria.
5N-BYF (msn 19020039) was formally handed over to the Nigerian carrier on January 27, 2021, at Embraer's site at Sao Jose dos Campos.
"The E195-E2 is the perfect aircraft to expand our domestic and regional operations... The E195-E2 aircraft will further help us actualise our ambition of connecting not just the whole of Nigeria, but the entire African continent, while feeding long-haul flights from our Lagos hub," Chairman and Chief Executive Allan Onyema said.
Besides a further twelve units on firm order, the Nigerian carrier also holds purchase rights for seventeen additional regional jets. According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, the carrier also operates eight E145s (operated by its regional division Air Peace Hopper), one Do328-300 for VIP charters, eight B737-300s, five B737-500s, one B777-200(ER), and two B777-300(ER)s.
