Titan Airways Malta (TM, Malta International) is looking to operate in the transatlantic cargo market, its application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for exemption authority and a foreign air carrier permit has revealed.
Having completed certification in Malta in July this year, the EU-based affiliate of UK-based Titan Airways (ZT, London Stansted) said only that it intends to offer both passenger and cargo charter services within Europe as well as between the European Union and the United States. Operations will be on board a combination of A320 and A330 aircraft.
So far, the start-up has taken delivery of one A321-200, 9H-ZTA (msn 3749), from its UK sister carrier, which will shortly be followed by its two A321-200(P2F)s G-NIKO (msn 1250) (to re-registered as 9H-ZTB) and G-DHJH (msn 1238). The latter recently ended a six-month ACMI contract with Amerijet International (M6, Miami International). The former is still operating for the US cargo operator. As previously reported, a further two A321-200(P2F)s are scheduled for delivery in summer 2022 and will likely be placed on the Maltese AOC.
Titan is also expecting an A330-300(P2F), EI-GTT (msn 713), which recently completed its P2F conversion with Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH in Dresden and is currently at Châteauroux Déols Marcel Dassault airport undergoing pre-delivery maintenance works.
