Breeze Airways (MX, Salt Lake City) has ordered twenty incremental A220-300s from Airbus, increasing its total order for the type to 80.

The deal was placed in late March 2021 but has thus far not been officially attributed to Breeze Airways.

The carrier plans to take the first of its A220s in October 2021 and debut the type's operations in the second quarter of 2022. Deliveries of all 80 units will continue for 6.5 years, through early 2028, at a rate of roughly one per month. All aircraft will be assembled at Airbus's Mobile Downtown, AL plant.

Breeze Airways plans to deploy the A220s on longer routes, exceeding two hours of flying time. It has yet to publish any details of the type's network.

The David Neeleman-backed start-up launched operations in May 2021 and currently operates ten E190s and three E195s, the ch-aviation fleets module shows. In contrast with the forthcoming new A220s, the Embraer jets are all second-hand. The carrier's average fleet age is 12.7 years.

Its certificate authority from February 2021 authorises Breeze Airways to operate up to 22 aircraft.
