Fiji Link (FJA, Nadi) has resumed scheduled flight operations with twice-daily return flights between the capital Suva and Nadi following the opening of COVID-19 containment zones on the main island of Viti Levu, the carrier announced.

The 30-minute shuttle flights resumed on September 18, the Fiji Airways subsidiary said in a statement.

This followed a government’s announcement allowing free travel within Viti Levu made possible by 60% of Fiji’s eligible population having been vaccinated against the dread disease.

The carrier said it expected the progressive lifting of other local containment zones and would roll out its domestic flight schedules accordingly.

However, in the interest of safety and in line with medical advice, Fiji Link has decided to only carry fully vaccinated passengers on its flights, it confirmed.

Exemptions are made for passengers younger than 18, and those exempted from vaccination by written permission from the Ministry of Health. All passengers must present a vaccination card in either physical or digital form.

Fiji Link has an all-turboprop fleet comprising one ATR42-600, two ATR72-600s, and four DHC-6-400s, according to the ch-aviation fleets module.
