flycana (Santo Domingo Las Américas) will rebrand as Arajet (DM, Santo Domingo Las Américas), the Dominican Republic's civil aviation regulator (Junta de Aviación Civil - JAC) has revealed.

In its application lodged with the JAC last month, DW Dominican Wings, S.A., as flycana is legally known, said it wanted its operator's licence amended with Arajet replacing flycana as its trade name, a request the regulator duly complied with.

As previously reported, flycana has wanted to differentiate itself from rival carrier Sky Cana (RD, Santo Domingo Las Américas) given recent confusion about their respective operations.

At present, Arajet is authorised to operate international charter flights ferrying passengers and cargo as well as scheduled flights on the route Santo Domingo-Havana International (Cuba)-Georgetown Cheddi Jagan (Guyana) and return. It will launch in the first quarter of 2022 with five B737-8s.
