Pivot Airlines (ZX, Toronto Pearson) will launch scheduled services from Kitchener to Ottawa International and Montréal Trudeau early next year, the airline announced.

Flights to Ottawa start on February 19 and to Montreal on March 21, 2022, according to a statement by the Canadian charter specialist.

Headquartered at Toronto Pearson, Pivot Airlines launched in June 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing essential air services connecting healthcare and resource sector workers as well as supply chains across Canada and into South America. It currently operates one CRJ100ER with three more of the type due, according to ch-aviation fleets data. The company also provides group charter flights from Toronto Pearson and Kitchener.

“Our launch markets reflect the global trend in regional travel," commented Chief Executive Officer, Eric Edmondson. "We believe that while Toronto Pearson is a world-class global hub, regional airports like the Region of Waterloo International Airport offer a better, more seamless, and hassle-free alternative for regional travel."

“We believe this service will encourage investment and create jobs in our community,” said Karen Redman, chairperson of the Regional Municipality of Waterloo which owns the airport. She said construction was currently underway on a terminal expansion that would accommodate further growth and investment in the region. The airport is home to 25 businesses that employ about 300 people, together contributing more than CAD90 million Canadian dollars (USD72 million) annually to the regional economy.

As reported, Pivot Airlines is also awaiting approval of a US Foreign Air Carrier Permit to operate three US transborder destinations next year.
