Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings (AAWH) says it has ordered four new B777-Fs from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) in order to meet strong demand for international cargo uplift driven by the e-commerce and express deliveries markets.

The first of the four new freighters is expected to be delivered in November this year with the other three expected throughout 2023. The holding has since told ch-aviation that it would communicate where the aircraft are to be placed, i.e. with Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) or with in-house lessor Titan Aviation Holdings, later in the year.

“We are excited to expand our fleet and service offerings for our existing and prospective customers with these four new B777s. With the best team in the industry as well as our focus on innovation and prudent fleet management, Atlas is serving the evolving needs of the global supply chain and delivering value for our customers,” John W. Dietrich, Atlas Air Worldwide President and Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement.

Atlas Air, following consolidation with Southern Air (Cincinnati International), operates nine B777-200Fs of which all but one (in service for Cainiao) operate for DHL Express. It also employs eight B737-800(BCF)s, thirty-six B747-400(F)s (two -BCFs, two -BDSFs, two -ERFs, twenty-six -FSCDs, and four -LCFs), four B747-8(F)s, and twenty-four B767-300Fs (eight -ERBCFs, fourteen -ERBDSFs, and two -Fs), the ch-aviation fleets module shows. Between May and October of this year, Atlas Air will also take delivery of the last four B747-8 freighters to ever roll off the Boeing production line.

Aside from the nine that it has with Atlas Air, Titan also has B777-Fs on dry-lease with AeroLogic (two) and FedEx Express (three).
