Wasaya Airways (WP, Pickle Lake) has acquired two ex-Hawaiian Airlines ATR72-200(F)s, its largest aircraft to date.
N807HC (msn 432) and N810HC (msn 423) were deregistered from the United States on May 6, 2022, but have yet to be inducted to the Canadian registry. Both aircraft remain parked at Coeur d'Alene. They were operated on behalf of Hawaiian Airlines by Empire Airlines under the regional 'Ohana brand through October 2020. The transaction was facilitated by Airstream International Group.
Hawaiian Airlines owns two more ATR72-200(F)s and four ATR42-500s from the former 'Ohana fleet operated by Empire Airlines, the ch-aviation fleets module shows.
Wasaya Airways has also taken over an ATR42-300(F), C-FCIJ (msn 139), from fellow Canadian operator Calm Air (MO, Thompson). Although the aircraft was registered to Wasaya in November 2021, it remains parked at Red Lake and has yet to be inducted into commercial service by the new operator.
The airline did not respond to ch-aviation's question as to when ATR - Avions de Transport Régional operations will start although Cargo Facts pointed to autumn 2022.
Wasaya Airways also operates three PC-12/45s, four BAe 748s (which will be partially replaced by the incoming ATR freighters), four Dash 8-100s, one Cessna (single turboprop) C208, and six Beech 1900Ds. The airline said in 2018, when it secured a CAD25 million Canadian dollar (USD19.2 million) investment from the Canadian Exchange Information Corporation (EIC), that it would use the funds to expand into larger aircraft, including ATRs.
