Blue Islands (SI, Jersey) has consolidated its fleet operations around the ATR72-500 following the retirement of its last ATR42-300.
ATR42-300 G-ISLH (msn 173) last operated commercial flights in January this year before being withdrawn from service. However, on May 8, it was ferried from storage at Jersey to Teesside marking its official departure from Blue Islands' domain.
In a statement, the Jersey carrier said its latest ATR72-500, G-ISLO (msn 778), has replaced G-ISLH with its inaugural commercial flight taking place on June 16.
“Our fifth ATR 72 aircraft demonstrates Blue Islands' commitment to providing year-round, sustainable connectivity and socio-economic benefits. It also underpins our positive but measured approach to growth as we emerge from the difficult market conditions caused by the pandemic over the past two years,” Rob Veron, Chief Executive of Blue Islands, said.
Blue Islands' scheduled network spans the UK mainland, Guernsey, France, Ireland, Switzerland, and Spain. It also collaborates with tour operators from Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
