Norse Atlantic (United Kingdom) has obtained its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and Operating Licence (OL) from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), allowing it to move ahead with its transatlantic routes from London Gatwick.

"Direct flights from the UK have been an integral part of Norse Atlantic Airways' business plan since the airline's inception in March 2021. There is significant demand for flights to and from the UK, where travel between the UK and the US constitutes the largest transatlantic market in the world. After the final regular approvals are in place, Norse will fly between London Gatwick and a number of American destinations," the carrier said.

AOC GB 2484 was issued to the carrier on September 9, 2022, while OL/A/664 was awarded on September 23, 2022, official records corroborate.

The chief executive of parent carrier Norse Atlantic Airways (N0, Oslo Gardermoen), Bjørn Tore Larsen, said the UK carrier would launch its services from Gatwick "towards summer 2023", without providing a specific timeline. The carrier underlined that its Gatwick base would hire UK-based staff under terms agreed with British unions.

According to its earlier US DOT filing, Norse Atlantic plans to serve Newburgh, Ontario International, Fort Lauderdale International, and Orlando International, followed by Los Angeles International, San Francisco, Rockford, and Baltimore Thurgood Marshall. The British carrier has so far taken on a single B787-9. Its Norwegian sister carrier operates eight B787-9s, the ch-aviation fleets module shows, and already serves New York JFK from Gatwick as a fifth-freedom flight originating in Oslo Gardermoen. It also serves three other American destinations from Oslo, and two from Berlin Brandenburg International.
