Emirates (EK, Dubai International) has placed an incremental order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for five B777-200Fs with deliveries scheduled for 2024 (two units) and 2025 (three).

"Emirates is investing in new freighters so that we can continue to serve customer demand with the latest fuel-efficient aircraft. This order reflects Emirates' confidence in airfreight demand and overall aviation sector growth. It lays the ground for our continued growth," Chairperson and Chief Executive Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows the Dubai-based carrier's fleet of dedicated freighters comprises eleven B777-200Fs. It has also contracted Israel Aerospace Industries to convert ten of its own B777-300(ER)s into B777-300(ER)(SF)s with work scheduled to begin in 2023. The airline's in-house B777 feedstock pool comprises 124 -300(ER)s and ten -200(LR)s.

Despite the recent order, Emirates remains a much smaller dedicated freighter operator than its regional rival Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International), which operates twenty-six B777-200Fs, and has orders for two more -200Fs and thirty-four B777-8(F)s.
