Colgan Air (Boston) has retired its last Saab 340Bs by July 31 when the aircraft where retired from United Express operations. It still continues to operate Dash 8-400s as a United Express carrier for several months operating the aircraft on behalf of United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) until Republic Airlines (Indianapolis International) will have taken over its remaining fleet of Dash 8-400s and Colgan Air shut down completely. This phased approach to close Colgan Air had been announced by its parent Pinnacle Airlines (Memphis International) back in April as part of its restructuring plan under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
