Ibom Air (QI, Uyo) is the name of a proposed new regional carrier the Nigerian state of Akwa Ibom is planning to set up. Governor Godswill Akpabio is said to have already approached Canada's Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) regarding possible technical assistance, as well as expertise in setting up a new MRO hangar at Uyo. Lufthansa Technik has also been approached apropos the running of the MRO facility. According to Mr Akpabio, his government plans to leverage the state's geographical position by turning Uyo into a regional hub with flights offered to Equatorial Guinea, Congo, São Tomé & Príncipe and Angola using a fleet of CRJ aircraft.
