Ola (Comoros) (Moroni International) is a planned Qatari-American regional carrier set to go head to head with Air Austral (UU, St. Denis de la Réunion)'s own start-up, EWA Air (ZD, Dzaoudzi). According to The African Aviation Tribune, Ola's backers have insisted on pre-empting Ewa's planned November launch so as to capture as much market share as possible. The start-up seeks to establish itself as a dominant carrier in the Indianocéanie market using the Comoros as a hub. No fleeting plans have thus far been revealed but all MRO work will be taken care of by an undisclosed US contractor in Moroni. The Comoros is home to yet another start-up, Gafo Air (Moroni International), who intend to service Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, Khartoum, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta and Dar es Salaam using a B737-300 but have yet to give any exact launch date.
