Trupi Air (Curacao) is a Curaçoan startup set to rise from the ashes of the now dead and buried, Dutch Antilles Express (9H, Curacao). According to the local press, Trupi Air (short for Trupial, a local variety of bird) is in the process of obtaining its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and is backed by one of Dutch Antilles Express' senior managers, Frank Weise. Flights to Brussels National, Funchal, Caracas Simón Bolivar, San José Juan Santamaría and Valencia Arturo Michelena Int'l are planned in 2014. Flights to Fort Lauderdale Int'l will depend on the island attaining Cat 1 status with the US Federal Aviation Administration.
