Ruili Airlines (DR, Kunming Changshui) is on track for its maiden flight in February, China's WCARN aviation newswire has reported. The start-up has now completed painting its first two ex-Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) B737-700s, B-5811 (msn 36873) & B-5812 (msn 36874), into corporate colours at Shanghai Pudong. Owned by the Yunnan Jingcheng Group, Ruili is backed by CNY600million (USD96million) in capital and was the first Chinese carrier to be established since Beijing moved to open up the local aviation industry to private players in 2007. Over the next 5 years, Ruili intends to build its fleet up to 45 aircraft and to become a major force in both the Chinese domestic market as well as the regional South East Asian market.
