Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International) will resume flights to Mogadishu following the recent signing of a bilateral accord between the Ethiopian and Somali governments. Ethiopian Airlines last served the Somali capital over twenty years ago.

Somali Minister for Transportation and Civil Aviation, Sa’id Jama Qorshel, told local radio that the Ethiopian government would also assist Mogadishu in training staff to man the country's nascent Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SOMCAA) as well as staff required for the launch of Somali Airlines (2012) (Mogadishu). Somali Airlines is the successor to Somali Airlines (1964) (Mogadishu) which collapsed in 1991 when the Horn of Africa state descended into anarchy.
