Jiu Yuan Airlines (Guangzhou) will launch flights in August following the signing of a CNY8billion (USD1.29billion) cooperation agreement between the start-up and the government of Baiyun District, Guangzhou.
"Currently, the route details are yet to be determined, because it will take some time before the application is approved. The airline plans to take delivery of three aircraft this year," Ji Guangping, the vice president of Juneyao Airlines, told WCARN news service.
The Juneyao Airlines (Shanghai Hongqiao) subsidiary says it intends to source either 26 Airbus A320s or Boeing 737s over the next five years. While it will initially serve China domestically, it also plans to branch out into the region.
