TACA International Airlines (San Salvador International) along with Vueling Airlines (VY, Barcelona El Prat) and the LATAM Airlines Group are among the latest carriers to alter existing orders with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac). In its April Orders and Deliveries Summary, the European aircraft manufacturer revealed that El Salvadoran operator, TACA, changed an order for one A319-100 into an A321 while Spanish LCC, Vueling, converted five A320s into A321s.
TAM Linhas Aéreas (São Paulo Congonhas) and LAN Airlines (Santiago de Chile) parent, LATAM Group, also converted orders for three A319s into A320s.
As reported earlier this week, American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) was the largest mover and shaker of the month having chosen to acquire, as opposed to leasing, 64 A321s and A319s.
Taking the month’s new business and cancellations into account, Airbus’ net orders recorded in 2014 totalled 142 jetliners through the end of April.
