BQB Líneas Aéreas (Punta del Este) has been forced to lay off 55 employees after plans to expand its international services to Argentina were blocked by that country's civil aviation authority (Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil - ANAC).

Uruguayan press reports state the 55 people - flight crew for the most part - had been hired in anticipation of the flights' launch. While the Uruguayan authority (Dirección Nacional de Aviación Civil e Infraestructura Aeronáutica - DINACIA) had given its go-ahead for Montevideo Carrasco to Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery and Córdoba International A319-100 flights, ANAC subsequently rejected the application for unknown reasons.

According to ch-aviation schedule data, BQB has also suspended other international services namely São Paulo Guarulhos, Rio de Janeiro International, and Curitiba International all in Brazil. It currently operates from Montevideo to Asuncion, Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery and Porto Alegre International and from Punta del Este to Buenos Aires Aeroparque with its fleet of four ATR72-500s.
