Swiftair (WT, Madrid Barajas) has selected US-based Aeronautical Engineers Inc. for the conversion of eight (four firm, four options) B737-400s into B737-400(F)s.

The first aircraft, msn 24438, formerly with SAMair (Slovakia) (Bratislava), is currently being modified at Commercial Jet Inc. at Miami International, Florida while the second, msn 24445, formerly with Wat Phnom Airlines (Phnom Penh), is on location in Miami and will begin conversion in later this month.

The Spanish operator's cargo fleet consists of four ATR42-300(F)s, six ATR 72-200(F)/-500(F)/-600Fs, five B737-300(F)s. two B737-400(F)s, and ten E120s, used on flights throughout the Iberian peninsula, France and Italy, as well on select routes to North Africa. Swiftair also operates freighters on behalf of DHL Express on the latter's express network.
