Air Madrid (Madrid Barajas) has wet-leased a B737-400 from Futura Intl Airways (FH/Palma de Mallorca). Its single A310-300 has been repossessed by the lessor while its single A340-300 is currently grounded. It will also not take over two additional ex-MyTravel Airways (VZ/Manchester) A330-200s and two ex-Swiss European Air Lines (LX/Zurich) ERJ-145s as previously announced. As a result it has been forced to wet-lease wide body equipment from various carrier and to cancel plans to launch new routes from Madrid to Los Angeles, Miami, Nice and Toulouse as well as between Barcelona and Nice. It has also given up its routes from Madrid to Frankfurt, Lisbon and Malaga. Air Madrid is planning to launch twice weekly A340-300 service from Madrid to Sao Paulo Guarulhos on February 6.
