Antrak Air (Accra) has suspended operations for the next three months effective immediately. In a statement, the Ghanaian domestic operator said the downtime would allow it to redevelop its business model.

"During this period, we will be looking at re-organization as it concerns our business model," it said. "We have been compelled to strategically suspend all operations from the domestic market with the aim to restructure to meet the rapidly changing and competitive environment."

Antrak has been experiencing 'challenges' concerning the wet-lease of an ATR72-500 from Spain's Swiftair (WT, Madrid Barajas) and as such, is now looking to secure its own aircraft prior to resuming operations.

"We are in advanced talks to take delivery of our own aircraft, which will give us more flexibility and less restrictive scheduling. We will return with the most convenient schedules, competitive fares and friendly service," it added.

Founded in 2003, Antrak offered scheduled services to Kumasi, Sunyani, Takoradi, and Tamale from its Accra hub.
