CanJet Airlines (Halifax) will switch its Air Transat (TS, Montréal Trudeau) operations from a wet-lease to a dry-lease contract Canada's Star Business news has reported. Quoting a CanJet scheduling bulletin, the paper says the change will take effect from next month.

While Canjet's contract to operate charters on behalf of Transat Tours Canada ended in April 2014, the Canadian ACMI/charter specialist continues to serve Cayo Coco, Fort Lauderdale International, Las Vegas Harry Reid, Montego Bay, Orlando International, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, and Varadero from Toronto Pearson on behalf of Transat using its sole remaining B737-800.

CanJet reduced available capacity last year after a decrease in demand forced it to park five other aircraft. As a result, it laid off sixty-seven pilots and sixty-eight permanent and seasonal flight attendants.

News of the Transat lease contract switch has cast further doubt about the jobs of the carrier's remaining thirteen cockpit crew and thirty-five flight attendants.
