Brussels Airlines (SN, Brussels National) is planning to phase out its fleet of twelve ARJ-100s by the end of 2017 airline president Bernard Gustin has told the AirFinance Journal.

Speaking during the interview, Gustin said the Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) subsidiary would replace the aircraft with a combination of A319-100s and A320s. The regional jets average 17.2 years of age.

The Belgian carrier is primarily an Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) operator employing seventeen A319-100s, seven A320-200s, three A330-200s and five A330-300s. Leased hulls include two Dash 8-400 (wet-leased from flybe. (2002) (Exeter)) and one E145 (wet-leased from bmi regional (Aberdeen Dyce)).
