Sundsvallsflyg (Sundsvall-Härnösand) has returned its sole Saab 2000 to parent Braathens Regional (Trollhättan) and replaced it with a larger ATR72-500. The ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) twinprop, which began commercial operations on January 4, is currently used on Sundsvallsflyg's Sundsvall-Härnösand-Stockholm Bromma route where it competes with SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup).

"The market is tough and it is critical that we return to growing the number of passengers [we carry] and also capture market share on this route," Eva Nyh Hederberg, director of Sundsvallsflyg, said.

Fellow Malmö Aviation (Malmö) unit Kalmarflyg (Kalmar) adopted a similar approach last year replacing its Saab 2000 with an ATR72.
