AWEX Croatia (Rijeka) is a start-up carrier looking to operate scheduled passenger flights from the Croatian coastal towns of Rijeka, Zadar and Bol Brač to Belgrade in Serbia later this summer. Flights to Portoroz are also planned.
According to EX-YU Aviation News, AWEX will lease a Saab 340A to run the flights and has already secured a contract with a major Serbian tour operator to act as its General Sales Agent (GSA).
The carrier is reportedly owned by Marijan Tuškan, the Croat businessman behind the country's first ever private carrier, the now defunct Air Adriatic (Rijeka).
