JetBlue Airways (B6, New York JFK) is set to become the first American carrier to resume scheduled passenger flights to Cuba when it commences a 3x weekly Fort Lauderdale International-Santa Clara de Cuba return service on August 31.

This will, in turn, be followed by a daily service from Fort Lauderdale to each of Camagüey and Holguin beginning on November 3 and 10 respectively.

Following the recent thaw in US-Cuba relations, the US Department of Transportation has designated a total of eleven carriers to operate scheduled passenger and cargo services between the two former foes including: Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International); American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth); Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson); Frontier Airlines (F9, Denver International), jetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines (WN, Dallas Love Field), Spirit Airlines (NK, Fort Lauderdale International), United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare); Sun Country Airlines (SY, Minneapolis St. Paul International); Silver Airways (3M, Fort Lauderdale International); and FedEx Express (FX, Memphis International).
