Spain's Air Europa to sublease B787s from Norse Atlantic
14.04.2022 - 08:28 UTCAir Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca) has announced plans to add 11 new aircraft to its fleet during the course of 2022, including four B787s on medium-term sublease contracts from Norse Atlantic Airways (N0, Oslo Gardermoen).
The Spanish carrier plans to add five B787s in total. The four subleased from Norse Atlantic Airways comprise two B787-8s and two B787-9s. Subject to the finalisation of the agreement, the quartet will be delivered to Air Europa during the second quarter of 2022. The sublease will last for at least 18 months.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that Norse Atlantic Airways plans to have three B787-8s and twelve -9s in its early fleet, on lease from AerCap (the -8s and six -9s) and BOC Aviation (six -9s). However, the nascent long-haul low-cost carrier recently deferred its launch by three months and will not require all of the aircraft during the ramp-up phase of its operations.

Malaysia's MYAirline targets A320s
14.03.2022 - 05:03 UTCPrevious reports that MYAirline (MYM, Kuala Lumpur Int'l) is looking at Airbus A320s for its fleet requirements have been confirmed by the company’s recruitment advertising.
MYAirline Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director Stuart Cross said the Malaysian startup is looking to employ experienced A320 captains and co-pilots at its base at Kuala Lumpur Int'l. Cross was not immediately available for more information.
This tallies with a previous report by Asian financial service provider, CGS-CIMB Research, that MYAirline has signed deals to lease two A320s.
The company is also recruiting cabin crew and other key personnel through its website.
As reported, MYAirline recently received conditional approval for an Air Service License (ASL) from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM). The license has been conditionally approved for 12 months, effective from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022.
According to the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), MYAirline was incorporated on January 11, 2021, with paid-up capital of MYR2 million ringgit (USD478,000). The shareholders are Zillion Wealth Bhd (88%), Trillion Cove Holdings Bhd...
Indonesia ungrounds the B737 MAX
28.12.2021 - 23:30 UTCThe Indonesian civil aviation authority (Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Udara - DJPU) has outlined its requirements for the resumption of B737 MAX operations in the country.
This was contained in an airworthiness directive issued on December 17, 2021, which became effective four days later. On December 27, Director General Novie Riyanto R. sent a separate letter to Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air informing them of the new procedures wherein they are required to install new software and hardware, and update their training manuals in line with US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recommendations issued over a year ago. In fact, the whole of the DJPU's technical explanation is a near verbatim copy of the FAA directive from November 2020.
The decision affects mostly Lion Air which has nine parked B737-8s and a further 186 B737-8s, one B737-9, and fifty B737-10s on order from Boeing. Some of its unfilled commitments are expected to deliver to fellow Lion Air Group subsidiaries Thai Lion Air and Malindo Air. In turn, Garuda Indonesia has...
