Tianjin Airlines (GS, Tianjin) has confirmed it will indeed make its Oceania debut during the last quarter of the year.

Effective December of this year, the Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou) subsidiary will offer a 3x weekly Tianjin to Auckland International, New Zealand via Chongqing service using A330-200 widebody equipment. The route will operate year-round.

“Regional China is a rapidly developing source market for New Zealand tourism and these new routes flying directly to Auckland provide another option for Chinese visitors to experience New Zealand,” Norris Carter, Auckland Airport’s general manager – aeronautical commercial, said in a press release published by the airport.

Auckland Airport estimates the new service will add 83,000 seats to the China- Auckland market on an annual basis while providing a NZD102 million (USD74.4 million) boost to the New Zealand tourism industry.
