Wasaya Airways (WP, Pickle Lake) has added an Dash 8-100 to its fleet as it enters the final stages of its restructuring effort, the company said in a statement.
The aircraft will be used to operate flights between Thunder Bay and Sioux Lookout. It joins the airline’s eighteen-strong fleet which includes one Dash 8-300, seven Beech 1900Ds, four PC-12s, three Hawker 748s and four Cessna Caravans. Fleet renewal forms a key component of the carrier’s turnaround strategy and it plans to add more Dash 8s in the coming months.
The Canadian domestic carrier, owned by 12 First Nations in northern Ontario was forced to restructure after amassing significant debts largely attributed by the Canadian press to excessive managerial spending.
