flybe. (2002) (Exeter) has announced it will open its first continental European base at Düsseldorf, Germany as part of plans to diversify its revenue sources away from the mainland UK market.

In a 1H16 market update, the carrier said the UK-European short-haul market was currently suffering from excess seat capacity and a weaker pound with both business and consumer uncertainty impacting all airlines.

As such, no timeframes or tentative routes for its maiden German base were disclosed.

According to the ch-aviation airlines database, Flybe maintains bases at Aberdeen Dyce, Belfast City, Birmingham, GB, Cardiff, Doncaster/Sheffield, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow International; Manchester International, and Southampton.
