Dutch tour operator Corendon will acquire blocks of seats on select Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) flights out of Eindhoven, Netherlands with effect from April of next year.

The firm's chief executive, Steven van der Heijden, told an investment conference this week that the agreement covers two weekly flights to the resort towns of Faro in Portugal and Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga in Spain.

According to the CEO, although Corendon Dutch Airlines (CD, Amsterdam Schiphol) does not operate out of Eindhoven per se, the Spanish and Portuguese markets are too lucrative to ignore. As such, should the partnership prove successful, more destinations could be added in future, van der Heijden said.

Earlier this month, Corendon's rival, TUI Nederlands, announced a similar deal albeit with easyJet (London Luton). The TUI Group unit said it will acquire seat-blocks on easyJet flights out of Amsterdam Schiphol to London Gatwick, Lisbon, Rome Fiumicino, Liverpool, and Milan Malpensa for the duration of the summer 2017 season.
