Khon Kaen Airport is set to again see scheduled international services following reports Thai AirAsia (FD, Bangkok Don Mueang) intends to commence regular flights to Kunming Changshui, China early next year.

The AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur International) subsidiary's chief executive, Tassapon Bijleved, confirmed the move to The Bangkok Post last month.

Situated in northeastern Thailand, Khon Kaen last saw international flights in 2015 when Lao Airlines (QV, Vientiane) ran a brief service to Luang Prabang.

At present, the ch-aviation schedules module shows Khon Kaen is connected to Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Bangkok Don Mueang, and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi by Kan Air, Nok Air, Thai AirAsia, and Thai Smile.
