Southwest Airlines (WN, Dallas Love Field) has announced it will be consolidating its Ohio area operations around Cincinnati Int'l Airport during the second quarter of the year.

In a statement, Southwest said it would end flights to Akron/Canton and Dayton James M. Cox, Ohio, on June 3, 2017. The Texan LCC currently connects the former with Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson and the latter with Chicago Midway. As such, from June 4 onwards, Southwest will serve each of Baltimore Thurgood Marshall and Chicago Midway from Cincinnati Int'l.

No reason for the change in operations was given.

According to ch-aviation schedules data, Southwest will compete with Allegiant and Delta Air Lines on flights to Baltimore. Its service to Chicago Midway is currently unserved by any other carriers although American Airlines, Delta, and United Airlines do offer flights to Chicago O'Hare.
