Air Berlin (Berlin Tegel) and Niki (Austria) (Vienna) have jointly announced the final details of their summer schedule networks as part of the restructuring exercise to transfer leisure focused routes from Air Berlin to Niki.
Air Berlin will focus on intercontinental services as well as more business oriented routes within Europe and in the German domestic market while Niki will assume various leisure oriented routes as it becomes part of Blue Sky, a new European leisure carrier group to be controlled by tour operator TUI, Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) and Niki Privatstiftung (foundation).
Based on the announcement and ch-aviation analysis of Air Berlin, Belair Airlines (Zurich) and Niki schedule data, Air Berlin will fully pull out of Friedrichshafen and Linz as part of the restructuring. Previously also removed services from Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, CH, Münster/Osnabrück and Paderborn/Lippstadt have now been added to Air Berlin's summer schedule again.
