Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) is set to open a new base at Memmingen, Germany, ch-aviation analysis of winter schedule data has revealed. Flights operating to Tenerife Sur, London Stansted and Sofia are each scheduled to make early morning departures beginning late October/early November.

Additional routes commencing from Memmingen for the winter season are to Fes Saïss (October 29, 2x weekly), Sevilla (October 31, 2x weekly), Warsaw Modlin (October 29, 3x weekly), and Thessaloniki (October 30, 2x weekly).

The addition of Memmingen will increase Ryanair's bases in Germany to nine, joining Berlin Schönefeld, Bremen Hans Koschnick, Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf Weeze, Frankfurt Hahn, Frankfurt International, Hamburg Helmut Schmidt and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden. The Irish low cost carrier is looking to pivot away from the United Kingdom following last year's Brexit vote, and has signalled its intention to focus more on EU airports in the near future.

Currently, Ryanair, Wizz Air (W6, Budapest), and Pobeda (DP, Moscow Sheremetyevo) operate out of Memmingen with a combined weekly capacity of almost 10,000 passengers.
