Flybondi (FO, Córdoba International) has confirmed it will use the B737-800 from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for the launch of operations, slated for September of this year.

In a statement, the start-up LCC said the aircraft will be configured with 189 seats for the lowest seat unit cost in the market. In addition, it said it has already reviewed the economics of the B737 MAX 200 and will soon start negotiations for an order of up to fifty of the type.

In a meeting today in Buenos Aires, Flybondi CEO Julian Cook and Boeing Commercial Directors finalised the details of the Entry into Service Support Agreement.

"We are convinced the B737-800NG is the right aircraft to develop the Ultra Low Cost model in Argentina and very pleased with the level of support that Boeing has provided us with, " Cook said in a statement. "We look forward to a long relationship with The Boeing Company and will start very soon discussions for an order of up to fifty B737 MAX 200."

In February, an Argentine civil aviation authority route determination board (Junta Asesora del Transporte Aéreo - JATA) provisionally awarded Flybondi seventy-eight of the ninety-nine routes it applied for late last year. Of those approved, thirty-eight are international and forty domestic.

However, in a final determination issued earlier this month, Minister of Transport Guillermo Dietrich said the formal allocation of the route authorities had been deferred until Flybondi had provided proof of means in the form of aircraft acquisition contracts.

Flybondi is owned by Richard Guy Gluzman, who served as vice president of the Pegasus investment fund which is owned by Argentine Secretary of Interministerial Coordination, Mario Quintana.
