Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) has announced plans to exercise its option next year to take a majority stake in bmi british midland (BD/Nottingham). Six of its thirty ordered EMB-190s will be assigned to its subsidiary Air Dolomiti (EN/Trieste) to launch a new base at Milan Malpensa in early 2009. It has announced several other new services: Frankfurt Intl-Pune: 6x weekly A319-100LR Business Class only service starting on July 1 (operated by PrivatAir (PTI/Geneva)) Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel-Berlin Tegel-Moscow Domodedovo: 3x weekly B737-500 service starting on June 3 (in addition to non-stop services from both cities) Munich-Boston: 6x weekly A319-100LR Business Class only service starting on October 26 (operated by PrivatAir (PTI/Geneva)) It has however decided against resuming service to Karachi and will give up its Munich-Dortmund route on May 30. Lufthansa had already given up its Frankfurt-Dnepropetrovsk services on March 29.
