Misty Fjords Air (Ketchikan Harbor SPB) has announced that it will launch flights from Ketchikan International, Alaska to Seal Cove Waterdrome, Canada 3x weekly. The schedule will allow passengers to connect with Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) flights from Prince Rupert to Vancouver International.

According to the FAA registry, the seaplane operator has a fleet of three De Havilland Canada turboprops – one DHC-2 MK 1 (N241MF msn 880), one DHC-3 (N6868B msn 274), and one DHC-2 L-20A (N7336 msn 1229) – which it deploys primarily on sightseeing and charter trips in the Misty Fjords area of Alaska's southeast panhandle. Misty's website also lists a Cessna (single piston) 185 Skywagon.

The 45-minute flight will connect the two communities by air for the first time since 1999, reports BC Local News.

"Our goal is to reconnect the communities. We’re trying to open up some economic opportunities and really try to promote the weekend travellers to come in both directions," Misty Fjords Air Vice-President, Dave Doyon Jr, is reported as saying.

The carrier plans to focus on tourist operations, as well as connecting members of the First Nations tribes.
